Thaksin's offspring file closing statement

Bangkok Post

Lawyers representing two of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra's three children on Wednesday filed a closing statement with the Supreme Court, declaring that they are not nominees of their father and their assets that were seized were acquired before Thaksin came into power.

Counsel Adulrat, represents Panthongtae and Pinthongta, said he filed the 130-page statement to the court to defend that their assets worth 40 billion baht were acquired transparently.

The statement contains 15 key rebuttals, which explain that Mr Panthongtae's assets worth 17.15 billion baht and Ms Pinthongta's assets worth 23.52 billion baht were acquired by the sales of Shin Corp shares, which were given to them by Thaksin and his wife before he became prime minister.

The assets were seized by the now disbanded Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC).

Mr Kittiporn also said that he believes Thaksin's wife and children will appear at the court to listen to the ruling themselves on Feb 26.
