Canadian University Rankings
Maclean’s Canadian college rankings have been the benchmark for Canadian college listings for eighteen years. Each year, Maclean’s improves their methodology, and now they include only public data so that their results can be validated. Other listings, including BusinessWeek, include Canadian colleges in their North American range. Those rankings are listed below.
Maclean’s Canadian Listings 2009
Methodology: Now in its 18th year of ranking, Maclean’s places universities in one of three categories, recognizing the differences in types of institutions, levels of research funding, the diversity of offerings, and the range of graduate and professional programs. Nothing In each category, Maclean’s ranks the institutions on a range of factors in six broad areas including student success, faculty, resources, student support and reputation. Otherwise, the ranking methodology did not change from the previous year.
Maclean’s Canadian Listings 2008
Methodology: This year, Maclean’s revised its methodology, and the rankings are now based entirely on publicly available data. Student and faculty numbers were obtained from Statistics Canada, as was data for all five financial indicators including operating budget, spending on student services, scholarships and bursaries, library expenses and acquisitions as well as total research income.This year, Maclean’s introduces a new indicator to broaden the scope of the research picture: total research dollars (six percent). This figure, calculated relative to the size of each institution’s full-time faculty, includes income from sponsored research as well as funding from non-governmental organizations.

Methodology: This site contains a list of accredited Canadian Colleges and Uniersities sorted by Web popularity. The aim of this Web site is to provide an approximate ranking of world-wide universities and colleges based upon the popularity of their Web site only. They do not claim to rank universities by their reputation, quality of education or level of services provided.
BusinessWeek: The Best B-Schools 2008
Methodology: BusinessWeek includes Canadian colleges in their “Top 10 Non-U.S. MBA Programs,” the “Second-Tier Non-U.S. Programs” and the “Non-U.S. Also Considered.” They also list Canadian schools in their various other categories, such as the “Part-Time MBA.” To be eligible for this list, schools must have an accredited undergraduate business degree program that meets BusinessWeek’s criteria for program size, age, test scores, and grade point averages for business majors, and number of full-time tenured faculty, among other things.
UTD Top 100 North American Business School Rankings
Methodology: The Uniersity of Texas at Dallas ranks 100 North American business schools based upon resarch contributions to academic journals. This list contains many Canadian colleges, and it was ranked on contributions made between 2003-2007.
